Overview

A character who is Warned has had a Come To Jesus and, if they do it again, stand to be severely punished.

Those who are Warned may not speak to any officer of your sect in public without first being spoken to and they may not contradict any sect official. If a character breaks this censure, they can either take the consequence of further negative status (Disgraced specifically) OR apologize through offering a minor boon (Camarilla), a favor (Anarchs), or a Sworn Debt (Sabbat). Alternative restrictions may be placed by the person who is issuing the Warning (for example, the Keeper of Elysium kicks you out of Elysium for a few weeks unless Court is being held there). If a staffer believes the alternative restriction is inappropriate, they may overrule it and impose the default censure.

Before ever issuing Warned to a character, check in with their player before you do it ("Hey, your character did X, my character believes that she should be Warned due to Y, but it's all IC, let me know if you have an OOC issue with it"). Keeping up with each other OOCly is important to create healthy, enjoyable IC conflict and checking in OOCly before you do something antagonistic ICly goes a long, positive way toward creating a comfortable environment.

How Do I Avoid It?

If someone is attempting to mark you as Warned and you don't want to be Warned, then you can dodge it by offering a Minor Boon or its equivalent to the directly offended parties. In the Sabbat, the equivalent is a Sworn Debt. In the Anarchs, the equivalent is a favor of the same level as a Minor Boon.

If you have the Victorious or Honorable status, you can spend it to clear Warned immediately.

If you have the Faithful status, you are effectively immune to Warned, unless you earn Warned twice (and thus become Disgraced).

If you have an ally with the Faithful or Victorious status, you can convince them to spend their Faithful status to have you pardoned.

A character with Authority (the Prince) can forgive an instance of Warned.

How Do I Get It?

In The Camarilla

There are plenty of ways to "earn" the Warned status in the Camarilla, with its strict social hierarchy.

You can get Warned for attacking the reputation of a character who is considered Honorable. You can get Warned for directly insulting or otherwise attack a character who is considered Established or Courteous. The Keeper of Elysium may issue if the one to be Warned has insulted other characters of station/status within Elysium (e.g. a Neonate insulting an Elder or Ancilla or Sect official). The Seneschal may Warn any character who they learn to have publicly questioned or disrespected the Traditions. The Harpy may Warn someone at will if they are negligent or dishonorable towards their boon debts. The Sheriff and the Scourge both may Warn someone if they are disrespecting or breaking the laws of the Praxis, be they the Prince's edicts or established law of someone's Domain.

In The Sabbat

The Archbishop can issue Warned (unless you have the Loyalist status).

In The Anarchs

The Baron can issue Warned. The Anarchs don't necessarily have laws that illustrate actions and their consequences, but generally, the Baron would issue Warned to someone who is acting against the best interests of their constituents or making a serious blunder.

A Cherry will become Warned if they mess up by speaking at gang or territory meetings unless first spoken to.
