Whip

The Primogen Council is usually limited to the single eldest or most influential member of each pillar clan. Sometimes, a Primognen may deign to appoint a Whip who acts as an executive assistant. The status rules described in 'Primogen' apply to the Whip when their Primogen is absent from a local gathering of kindred. A Whip gains no abiding status of her own, but temporarily gains the abiding status Noble when at her local gathering, if the Primogen is not in attendance.

IC Requirements

The Whip, when subbing in for Primogen...

  • Advises and inform the Prince about recent events.
  • Promotes and represent the clan's current values and interests.
  • Ensures that her clan mates are treated with respect.
  • Promotes and represent loyalty towards the Traditions.
  • Advocates for the interests of one's own clan, such as by holding audiences with her clanmates to bring their concerns to the Prince.
  • Holds one's own clan mate accountable for breaches of decorum and poorly behavior before higher Sect officials take care of it.
  • Receives newly approved player characters in their clan, to screen them before Presentation. This can also be done by the Seneschal, so you do not have the sole burden of being the Newbie Welcomer.

OOC Requirements

Social Commitment: You should be willing and able to RP with people outside of your usual social circle. We all have our RP habits and reasons behind them and nobody should be forced to RP with someone they don’t want to RP with in the first place. But the Primogen is to be an advocate for their clan, and even though you're the substitute primogen, a Whip should not preside over their clanmates if they're not willing to RP with them.

Character Requirements: Your character needs to be a Neonate, Ancilla or Elder and you must have been playing for 3+ months (so we know you are invested in the game). Further, get a Primogen to appoint you. This can be done through +request.

OOC Grace: Your character’s responsibilities include holding your clanmates accountable just as much as furthering your clan's goals. That might look like stepping on IC toes, roping in some IC muscle to enforce your IC will, making IC threats (veiled or blatant), and other antagonism. Even though such conflict is probably going to be uncommon, it needs to happen with OOC grace when it does happen. You need to be someone who is willing and capable to OOCly reach out to people proactively and preemptively to tell them, “Hey, I’m about to do XYZ to your character, it’s all IC” and touch base with them afterwards.

Status System

The Whip is considered Noble when subbing in for the Primogen. A Noble character is responsible for being a role model. A Noble character awards Acclaimed and Faithful as appropriate at will, and may grant the negative status, Vulgar, once a week.
