Stretching Powers
Characters may "stretch" supernatural abilities (use an ability at 1 level higher than they have) explicitly with staff supervision under the following rules. It's intended for dramatic Hail Mary moments, or exploring scenes centered around learning.
Vampires may stretch any learned disciplines to a maximum of 5. Non-Caitiff may additionally attempt the 1st level of any non-proprietary discipline. Blood magic may NOT be stretched.
To stretch a discipline costs 1 WP and double the blood cost (disciplines that cost no blood normally now cost 2 blood). Willpower cannot be spent to add successes. Generational blood spending per turn applies so the payoff of a discipline might take two or more turns. The relevant roll is made at +2 difficulty. Botches incur frenzy immediately. If the difficulty exceeds 10 then the stretch cannot be made.
Mages may stretch a sphere for 1 WP per Arete roll. This incurs Paradox automatically (equal to the level being stretched to). Willpower cannot be spent to add successes but Quintessence may be burnt to lower the difficulty. Botches incur double Paradox. The roll will be made at +2 difficulty. If the difficulty exceeds 10 then the stretch cannot be made. Vulgar magic doubles the paradox gotten.
Mortal+ may stretch Numina that is NOT hedge magic (which cannot be stretched) for 1 WP per roll, getting 2 bashing damage per level attempted.
