On the grand chessboard, one cannot always tell who is moving the pawns. One of the chess players has dedicated themselves to your welfare, but you have little to no idea who this mysterious patron is, nor who they want, or whether their assistance puts you in their debt. Unlike a Mentor, this benefactor's motives are their own, and you don't, as a player, get to determine anything about them or their true goals. Magick will not reveal the reason for these indulgences - the patron is far too clever to get caught that easily.
- One dot: A shadowy someone pulling occasional strings.
- Two dots: A helpful benefactor who chooses to remain concealed.
- Three dots: A superior who helps you for mysterious reasons.
- Four dots: A powerful party who appears to favor you.
- Five dots: A high-ranking mage or Technocrat who seems dedicated to your well-being... at least for now.
