Authorities found two men dead in the state-owned parking lot under Highway 101 in SoMa on Monday afternoon and took a woman to the hospital for medical treatment, police report.

The deaths do not appear to be suspicious, said Lt. Yun-Qi So of the San Francisco Police Department.

A passerby called police around 1 p.m. after seeing a man on the ground, motionless, near a tent on the Merlin street lot, where homeless residents live in tents, trucks and makeshift structures.

Police and firefighters responded and pronounced the man, who was in his 40s, dead at the scene.

First responders then found a second woman, in her 50s, unconscious in the tent nearby, and hospitalized her. One park resident reported that the surviving woman had lived here for four years, and identified her as a mother of 2 who worked for CVS.

A man approached the police and firefighters on the scene to report that his tent mate was also unresponsive. While the woman is in the hospital alive, the team determined that the second man had died.

Authorities found drug paraphernalia during their investigations. According to the resident who approached first responders, there was probably a bad batch of something mixed with fentanyl making the rounds.
