A Primogen is a clan representative in a society which is very much NOT democratic: the Prince does not acknowledge a Primogen because he's nice or likes you. He acknowledges a Primogen because he has no choice in the shadow of what consequences will haunt him if he doesn't. Earn Primogen by getting other clanmates to acknowledge you as Primogen rather than by getting the Prince to do so. The title is administered by staff and is not available in clans that have less than 3 members. File a +request and CC your clanmates in order to earn the title. If you have a simple majority, we will give you Primogen.

IC Requirements

The Primogen...

  • Advises and inform the Prince about recent events.
  • Promotes and represent the clan's current values and interests.
  • Ensures that her clan mates are treated with respect.
  • Promotes and represent loyalty towards the Traditions.
  • Advocates for the interests of one's own clan, such as by holding audiences with her clanmates to bring their concerns to the Prince.
  • Holds one's own clan mate accountable for breaches of decorum and poorly behavior before higher Sect officials take care of it.
  • Receives newly approved player characters in their clan, to screen them before Presentation. This can also be done by the Seneschal, so you do not have the sole burden of being the Newbie Welcomer.

Your character needs to be an Ancilla or Elder and you must have been playing for 3+ months (so we know you are invested in the game).

OOC Requirements

Time Commitment: You should be able to realistically dedicate a few days a month towards checking in on your fellow clanmates. We all have OOC vacations and holidays, but since you're going to fulfill the role of advocate, please make sure you can regularly check in on your clanmates. A player who cannot realistically make on-screen time explicitly for their clan mates at least once a month should not become Primogen.

Social Commitment: You should be willing and able to RP with people outside of your usual social circle. We all have our RP habits and reasons behind them and nobody should be forced to RP with someone they don’t want to RP with in the first place. But the Primogen is to be an advocate for their clan, and if you aren't willing to RP with your clanmates (for whatever reason), that's fine, but you shouldn't put yourself in a position of IC power over people you do not want to engage with.

Character Requirements: Your character needs to be an Ancilla or Elder and you must have been playing for 3+ months (so we know you are invested in the game). Further, get a simple majority of your clanmates to vote you in. This can be through submitting a +request and CCing your clanmates.

OOC Grace: Your character’s responsibilities include holding your clanmates accountable just as much as furthering your clan's goals. That might look like stepping on IC toes, roping in some IC muscle to enforce your IC will, making IC threats (veiled or blatant), and other antagonism. Even though such conflict is probably going to be uncommon, it needs to happen with OOC grace when it does happen. You need to be someone who is willing and capable to OOCly reach out to people proactively and preemptively to tell them, “Hey, I’m about to do XYZ to your character, it’s all IC” and touch base with them afterwards.

Status System

The Primogen is considered Noble. A Noble character is responsible for being a role model. A Noble character awards Acclaimed and Faithful as appropriate at will, and may grant the negative status, Vulgar, once a week.
