I'm a reasonable guy.
But, I've just experienced some very unreasonable things.

“Jack Burton, Big Trouble in Little China”
Basic Info
  • Bikes: It's more than just a means of transportation, it's a lifestyle - a degree of freedom.
    • Do you Ride?
  • New In Town: Word has it that he came in from Vegas a few weeks ago.
    • Are you from Vegas? Did you run in criminal circles there?
  • Pagan: Most people will mistakenly assume that he's a pagan. He's not. He doesn't believe in the old religion of Europe, he doesn't go to local pagan festivals in hand-made robes or dance skyclad around a spring-time, fertility statue. Nope. His believes are much darker. That being said - he's more willing to deal with Pagans than non-pagans.
    • He's even been known to go out of his way to help Pagans who are in a pinch.
Magical Info
  • Blue-Collar Warlock: His materials are inexpensive, commonly available and generally what’s on-hand. His magic is fairly straightforward, working-class and without many frills. Summoning spirits and calling hellfire to your hands is great but it doesn’t keep gas in your bike. So he had to find something to pull in cash. He’s the guy who would spend his evenings pouring over Chinese take out while piecing together a carburetor set out on a table before heading out for a midnight hookup or a late night conversation with the thing that lives in the fire. He’s usually trying to find some way to get a payday to keep the wolves at the door.
    • Are you a Sorcerer? Need the services of one?
  • Dangerous Books: Books aren’t generally considered dangerous. However, those books that teach how one could build a bomb should probably be restricted from those angst-ridden teenaged eyes that might want to blow up a school. More importantly, books shouldn’t teach a curious teen how to achieve the same effect without needing the bomb at all. All it took was some candles, a bit of chalk, some wine and a three drops of blood and his life changed forever.
    • Are you into forbidden books? Does the concept of "dangerous books" interest you in a bad way?
  • Talks to Fire: Some wizards can talk to snakes. Others have whole conversations with their familiars and things over afternoon tea. Daws, however, talks to fire. Or rather, he talks to whatever lives within the fire. He’s not quite sure what it is but the first ritual he performed was how to create a ‘sacred flame’. He did and, like the ritual explained, the fire turned green. Uncertain if it was the odd combination of materials that might have chemically altered the fire he decided to ask it a question, just like the ritual said he could. It answered.
    • Do you deal with spirits?
Contacts & Allies
  • Angie: First face in a local dive bar.
  • Liliana: Cool shop. We should talk more.
  • Eddy: Looks like we walk in the same circles bro.
Streetwise

  • Streetwise (1):
    • White-haired biker, fairly new in town, In from Vegas.
  • Streetwise (2):
    • He's also a mechanic that and is looking for work - some of it even legal.
  • Streetwise (3):
    • He was a Hitter for some of the small families / organizations in Vegas.
  • Streetwise (4):
    • Heard he did also pulled a nickle back in South Carolina for aggravated assault.
  • Streetwise (5):
    • He shanked a few people when he was a kid - both boys got cut bad after attempting to jump him in the shower. He's been a fan of knives ever since.

Magic

Magic, the darkest magic.

My soul swims in it...

Enchantments

Black Flame Candle

Black-flame-candle-01.png
  • Source: Enchantment 3
  • Concept: A candle used to aid in occult-based crafting/research/ritual work.
  • Desc: A pure black candle enscribed with various arcane sigils and back-filled with gold or silver foil. When lit, the candle's flame starts like any other but will quickly shift its color to white, then to grey and eventually burn pure black. This unnaturally colored flame will fill the area directly around it (within 10 feet) with a cold, grey light until the candle is consumed (1 scene)
  • Effects: Occultatum Occulus "The Hidden Eye". Once lit the candle provides anyone within its light (10 foot circle) a +3 bonus to all occult-based rolls. This benefit extends to rituals/crafting/research-based checks for the duration of the scene (until the candle's flame burns out).
  • Drawbacks:
    • Lucubratio: (lit. work by night) This item can only be used at night or in places devoid of sunlight.
    • Limited Use: The candle is completely consumed upon use and can not be reused.
    • Eyes of Flame: After successfully using this candle (benefiting from the effects during the scene), the character's eyes will burn with the light of a black flame. Any camera, mirror or reflective surface will also capture this effect. This causes the character to radiate an 'Otherworldly Taint'.
    • Otherworldly Taint: The character suffers a -1 to all social rolls until dawn. This is a result of their connection, however brief, with the powers of the Other World. Other characters get an awareness check (see news awareness) the first time each person with this Otherworldly Taint is encountered per night. Depending on successes, the feeling is non-hostile, has a target and source of the person they've encountered, and has the intent to open their 'eye' to the secret world.
  • Creation: Black Flame Candles are often created in batches (no more than three at a time) but their creation in itself is not difficult. They are created over three nights and the work can only be done at night.
    • The first night the character braids the wicks out of natural fibers while reciting an incantation to aid in their occult work.
    • On the second night, pure black wax is mixed with a pinch of grave dirt, three drops of the creators blood and ash from a burned secret (written on paper) before being poured into a mold with a hand-braided wick of natural fibers and left to cool.
    • Lastly, on the third night, the cooled candles are enscribed with an iron nail or spike to carve runes of power, thought and mastery. If successful, the runes will glow with silvery light when exposed to the light of a full moon. They must be kept away from sunlight at all times
