Characters can take up to 15 merits and flaws entries regardless of the point values. When taking these merits and flaws, you can only reap +7 additional freebie points, so were you to take 10 points of flaws, you still would only get 7 additional freebie points.

You are free to take merits and flaws that have effects that stack.

Because we allow you to take more merits and flaws than the system originally intends, we have limitations on how multiple merits and flaws may be stacked.

When stringing together merits and flaws that add difficulty modifiers to a dice roll, the maximum difficulty reduction, after all modifiers are applied, is -3. When stringing together merits that add dice to a specific roll, the maximum additional dice one can add is 5 dice.

On the chance that a singular merit does grant a benefit that reduces the difficulty by 4 or more, or adds more than 5 dice, then this mechanic stays upheld, but only because that merit is being applied by itself.
