Mages are not innately empowered to resist the effects of vampiric disciplines. If a mage is subjected to the use of a Discipline and discovers the true nature of what happened to them, then they may create a defense. Depending on the context, this defense may also protect against similar expressions of the same discipline (for example: A ST may say someone's anti-Mesmerize defense easily applies also to Awe, but not Dread Gaze). This must be decided by the storyteller at the time of the defense being implemented and cannot be contested after the fact.

For a mage to observe an obfuscated vampire, they must first have an active effect intended to thwart illusions or attacks on one's own thoughts. Mind will then be subbed in for Auspex for all detection mechanics.
