Lauren
Lauren Mitchell has lived in San Francisco since 2014, when she arrived from the Los Angeles area in order to attend SFSU. She bummed around for a few years and never graduated, and now is publicly known to work as a personal assistant. Apparently handling tech workers' calendars and late night Whole Foods runs pays fairly well, because she lives in Pacific Heights.
Except...
In reality, the "personal assistance" she supplies is a lot more personal than she lets on: she works as an escort, using the name Mercy. Her ads aren't hard to find, if you know where to look, and she markets herself as someone who offers dates, conversation, and emotional intimacy. For this sort of worker, she's solidly in the middle range for pricing: expensive compared to streetwalkers or girls working at rub and tugs, but not so ultra high end that only tech oligarchs can afford her company.
Hooks
Hook(er): No, this is not an offer for free TS, but you can hire Lauren. (Or perhaps you did in the past?) She emphasizes companionship and emotional intimacy - or a simulacrum thereof, at least. For a few hundred dollars an hour, you too can have dinner and conversation with "Mercy."
Rehab and Probation: Whoops! Lauren got busted in early 2020 for prostitution and heroin possession. A plea bargain easily kept her out of jail, but her year-long probation included community service and drug rehab. Maybe you met her there.
Karaoke: She loves it. She... could be worse, probably.
Fancy Lady: Lauren's clients take her to plenty of expensive restaurants, galleries, events, etc. She might not have enough money to move in those circles all the time, but her work allows her to dip her toes in.
Slumming It: On the other hand, she occasionally needs to slip into the seedier side of the city to acquire... things. Do you sell opioids or weapons, or know someone who does? Lauren may have crossed paths with you.
Long Term Resident: Lauren's been in SF for years now, and attended SFSU for a while. Perhaps you've met?
