The Equipment system allows you to set up things like surviellance systems and private servers. We don't want to make you have to itemize every little security measure or have to learn How To Computer in order to play Hackerman, however, and so we assume that your character automatically takes the necessary, reasonable steps for making sure that something is secure/encrypted if they have at least 1 dot of Computer.

In order to make sure that your super-secure spy network is, in fact, secure, make the character with the highest dots in Computer set up whatever you have in mind. Whatever your Computer rating is, if it's at least 1, will be added to the Difficulty of whatever rolls some unforeseen SUPERHACKER is going to have to roll in order to HACK INTO YOUR MAINFRAME or whatever the hell it is when that time comes.

If you +request specific actions to be taken (Hi staff, I want to make sure that I use this exact service and this exact method) we will slap a note on and honor it if your character would reasonably know how to do that, of course, but the point is we don't expect extra action from you. We do not, however, save you from doing actively stupid things, so just because your character has Computer 5, if they record a Nosferatu catfight and upload it onto Worldstar, Computer 5 isn't going to make up for such a frothing anyeurism of common sense.
